Biography

Ven Sin Kong (Indriyasamvaro) was born on Tuesday, 15th March, 1983 in Po Village, Po Commune, Tbengmeanchey District, Preah Vihear Province, in the northern part of Cambodia. He is the second child among three children of Mr. Sin Khem and Mrs. In Den. His parents separated when he was seven years old, he went to stay with his grandfather in the Prasat Chey Broek Monastery for learning the lesson from the senior monks. During staying there he tried hard for his lessons especially the Khmer language until he could read and write as well as Buddha’s teaching. At the same time, he also attended the public school up to the 6 standard. Due to the condition in the family changed he didn’t study any more and returned to live in native village with his mother again. Being the diligent one even he didn’t learn at school but he never wasted his time for useless things, he always tried his best to read the lesson in various aspects. Early 1998, when he was fifteen years he was ordained as a novice under Ven. Chan Sarin (Khanti Pala) - the Sangha Nayaka Thera of the Preah Vihear province. Being a novice for one year he attended the Buddhist Primary School in Phnom Penh City - Capital of Cambodia. He passed the certificate of Buddhist Primary School (Maha Pathama Vijja) and the Buddhist High School entrance examination in 2001. Being a student of Bur Kry Buddhist High School for three years, he attended the English Associate Degree (Literature) at the Institute of Cambodian Education in 2003. Due to diligence he becomes the outstanding student in this Institute in his generation (Academic Year 2003-2005). At the age of twenty-two, he became a Bhikkhu (higher ordination) on 10th February 2005, under Ven Poung Nin, the chairmonk of Prasat Sambor Brei Kuk District, KampongThom Province. In the middle of 2005, he got the scholarship for B.A from the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU), which is located in Yangon, Myanmar. As now he is attending the second year of B.A Degree in ITBMU, and expecting to finish it on 31st March, 2008. During study there he completely translated one book entitle “Buddhist Ethics in Daily Life” written by Ven. Dr. Dhammapiya into Cambodia language and now he is preparing to publish as the Dhamma gift. At the same time he study there, he also become one of groups of computer experts who design the book for publication in 2005 (Collection of Essay on Buddhism Volume 4) written by Khmer Student Monks in ITBMU. On 11th August 2006, he was elected as the financer of KSMA by the members at the Royal Cambodian Embassy under the presidency of Excellency Hul Phany, Khmer Ambassador in Myanmar. On 25th August he was chosen to be editor who responsible for the publication the book (Volume 5) in the year of 2006.
